The Spiritual path demands honesty. Truth is not always pretty. In contrast to infotainment which seeks to titillate and attract viewers, real news is not designed as an entertainment medium. But more importantly, we must be honest with ourselves. We must learn to look at ourselves so that we can see our own challenges and not feel bad about them but work to transform them and evolve ourselves to strength through wisdom.
As we move upon our spiritual path, we will find many people offering classes in this or that. Some people seem to have spent their entire lives in the University or in studying with dozens of other people. They cover their walls and website with pictures of themselves and famous personalities.
The best teachers are not occupied with self-aggrandizement. They may not even have their pictures on their websites but they most certainly will not be pushing themselves as something special beyond their ability to teach. They are measured by their compassion and ability to nurture those who come to them.
When evaluating a spiritual leader or teacher, look beyond the credentials and find the deeper truth. A teacher does not have to be perfect but should be focused on transmitting the teachings and demonstrating the truth through their ministries.
Great Spiritual Leaders will be doing things for other people and not always taking credit for everything.
