Root and Fruit,
of every tree
universal
heart, blood, and beat
Tao
Source of Everything
valued by the virtuous
sacred sanctuary for the refugee
Tao is the egg and the seed
excellent scripts can make
screenwriters wealthy
noble conduct brings
heroes honor and fame
Yet the Tao is more prized than all of these
Tao is always there
always here
centered everywhere
within the minds of the good
hearts of the bad
When the emperor is enthroned
within the nexus of the universe
and trinity is recognized
within DivineUnity
Forego the flowers
box of chocolates
gold coins or jade disks
present instead the Tao.
When Prophets
offer talk of the meaning of horses
or historians
speak of Trojan Equus
their words do not hold
the same weight as the Tao
the Tao is here, the Tao is now
what, where, when, how
Forgiveness is innate
intrinsic and assured
for how can the branch
hate the root
if the tree is to thrive?
Even the couch potato
can bring forth success
through the Way
Why did our forbearers
value the divine Tao?
Because when we are one
with the way
when we seek, we find
pursued, we escape.
Tao yields no mistakes
entering the way
the past fades
Tao engenders forgiveness
pardons the mistakes
Thus it seems confusing
yet is universally beloved
Tao is the treasure of the universe.
